The problem
Nobody reads AI terms of service, and the clauses that matter most, such as how your data is used and what you give up, differ more between companies than people assume.
What it does
Terms & Conscience is a comparative reading of eight AI companies’ consumer terms, scored against a 12-point rubric, comparing US terms with those offered elsewhere.
Its companion, Usual and customary, takes any terms of service you paste in and returns a score, the clauses that fall outside the norm of the eight-company corpus, and comparison charts.

Both were built as Claude artifacts. This entry doesn’t yet link to them, and no scores or findings are reproduced here until the published versions are linked.
